A couple from Saudi Arabia once asked us for a sunset cruise on the Chao Phraya.
At first they pictured the plain wooden boats you see tourists taking photos on along the canals. They had no idea Bangkok also has real yachts for the river.
We found two boat options through one of our suppliers, added champagne, and brought in a photographer to capture the day. He picked the first option, then changed his dates.
By the time the new date came around, that yacht was fully booked. The second option, a nicer and more expensive boat, was still free. We negotiated with our supplier and managed to secure it at the same price as his first choice, without telling him.
He found out at the dock. He called us convinced we had made a mistake with the booking. We told him there was no mistake, the boat was his at the price he agreed to, and the photographer was already waiting onboard.
We caught up over wine later that day. He said our staff stayed in life jackets the entire time, as required on the Chao Phraya, while the boat’s own captain skipped his and ended up fined on the way back to the dock.
The photographer liked the moment so much he shot video too, not just photos. Another good day, and a new review on our Google Business page.
